a peek into my classroom.

Happy Tuesday y'all!

I've been to my classroom a few times over the last couple of weeks. I'm trying to do things little by little so that when pre-planning rolls around August 1st I'm not trying to decorate and things like that.

When I came to my classroom in January, the previous teacher had hardly any decorations, posters, color, or anything really visual and inviting for the students. The first few weeks I was there I tried to do as much as I could. Now that I've had the summer to go up there and spend lots of time making the room my own, it's slowly but surely getting to where I want it to be :)

Now, these pictures show how the classroom is coming along. My mama is coming up again this weekend to help with a few more things so I'll be sure to take more pictures!

{This is what you see when you enter the classroom door.}

{Here's another shot of the room from the back corner.}

{Our school theme is "Ahoy to Learning!" so I thought this pirate banner would be perfect :) }

{This cute little "Set Sail for Learning!" set is perfect behind the computers!}

{The calendar math bulletin board...I still have to add some things to the money part. If you look closely, my red number one above the board fell behind the board so now I've got to print off another one!}

{I'm not sure what I'm going to use these two boards for...student work maybe?}

{a few posters above the board}

{I've still got to do some work to this little area. I've got to figure out what to do with some of the storage behind the desk.}

{cute little storage seats}

{Love this fabric :) }

{The cute little curtain mama and I made!}

{color monkeys!}

{the little reading corner}

{I hung this crayon wreath that my parents help make on my closet door!}

{The front of the room with the dry erase board, SmartBoard, and the alphabet!}

{vowels and blends}

{I'll be putting Mrs. Judy's Jewels on the door and write the students' names on the jewels!}

{The treasure chest will go perfect with the jewels!}

{back of the door}

{The Pirate Code of Conduct that the kiddos will sign!}

{All the teachers got their pictures taken to be made into a pirate! I think mine turned out pretty cute!}

As a mentioned earlier, our school theme is "Ahoy to Learning!"/pirates. It's not mandatory that we follow the theme in our classroom but I'm trying to incorporate a few piratey things here and there :)

I can't believe school starts in about two weeks! I know I'll be adding and changing more things before the first day of school!

Hope everyone has a terrific day!

Your room looks great! I love the pirate banner. If they removed the white board from my first classroom, they would find many pictures/posters that fell behind it. Now, I make sure to line the top with masking tape before I hang anything above it!

Did you make your own crate seats? I'm working on some right now but I haven't bought any padding/fabric yet.

Seeing your classroom makes me what to be a teacher aid again for preschoolers. For the boards with nothing on them what about incorporating a birthday board ( like a pirate plank or something?)

Best of luck getting the rest done and I look forward to the other pictures. :)

Your room looks great! My mom teaches 2nd grade and kindergarten and has a lot of the same things you do. She uses her extra board space to feature a "student of the week" that gets to bring in pictures of their family and favorite things:-)

It is adorable!! One thing I've learned with teaching is that you are ALWAYS changing things. This is my 4th year and I still change/tweek things every year. It also depends on the kiddos! Love your room!

I am so jealous of your desks. Which sounds like something weird to be jealous about but I am. Mine are the annoying connected kind and it makes moving things around SO difficult!
