sunday funday!

Happy Sunday y'all!

I'm playing along with MannLand5 and "Getting to Know YOU!"

(cute new pic by the way!)

Here are this week's questions...

The questions..

1. Would you rather bungee jump or sky dive?
Neither! I hate heights!

2. When using a public restroom to you squat over the seat or sit?
Well, if the bathroom has some of those paper seat covers I use those. If not, I'll tear off toilet paper to lay on the seat.

I have heard though that toilet seats are less germy than say a doorknob!

3. Favorite flower?
Hmmm....daffodils are pretty!

4. Pedicure or manicure?
Both please!

5. How many siblings do you have?
A younger brother.

6. Do you pee in the shower? (gasp!)
Ewww!

7. Bikini, tankini, or one piece?
Bikini. But I do have to have some coverage. It can't be too skimpy!

8. Where do you hate to shop at, but go there anyway?
Wal-Mart aka Wally World. I only go there if it's an emergency. Like when I needed resume paper this weekend...and of course they were out!

Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend and a great start to your week tomorrow :)

happy blogaversary!

One year ago today, I wrote my first post.

I wrote once in March and April and then wrote two posts in July.

I finally got my first comment in August from a girl that found my blog that I know from some of my graduate classes. It was weird that she found my blog and was the first person to comment :)

After that, I tried to write more...at least once a week.

Now, I try to write something every day!

I don't know how I found out about blogging...I just came across a blog one day and thought it would be fun to start my own.

I started this blog to be somewhat of a journal and to learn new things from other people.

I wanted something just for me to write down my thoughts and the things going on in our lives.

I love being able to look back on things that I have written. It's such a great way to document my life with my friends and family.

Thank y'all for following me during my first year of blogging!

I'm sure I'll be here for many more :)

thankful thursday.

Happy Thursday friends!

Here are just a few things I am thankful for today...

I'm thankful that I got a call this morning to come and sub. Even though it's no fun not knowing whether or not you're subbing the night before I'm still glad I got a call :) even if it was in the same wild and crazy first grade class I was in today.

I'm thankful that if I get another call to sub tomorrow we can wear jeans.

I'm thankful that I was able to take a nap when I got home from school today.

I'm thankful that J surprised me by coming home from work earlier than usual :)

I'm thankful that when I made these bite size apple pies tonight they actually turned out pretty good!

I'm thankful that we have a relaxing weekend ahead...with more baseball games!

I'm thankful that our wedding photogs are finally mailing us our CDs with our family pics and the ones we took in Savannah :)

what I'm loving wednesday!

Happy Wednesday friends!

I decided to copy A Gal and Her Dog again and tell you what I'm loving on this wonderful Wednesday :)

I'm loving that I got to sub yesterday and today. It had been a while since I subbed and I got to be with little first graders yesterday and today!

I'm loving this color quiz that I found from Short Southern Momma, Don't Stop Believin', and La Bella Vita.

My color was black. Not the happiest color like my fave yellow, but I did think the description fit me pretty well!

Here's what the color black means:

Nothing can stand between you and your demand for a calm environment. To be free of conflict and disagreement is the only way to live. In fact, it’s this philosophy that probably allows you to be comfortable in conditions that would normally bother others. Your ability to focus is undisputed, and while you enjoy attention, you still have problems understanding how to handle it. No other color out lives by the golden rule as much as you do.

I'm loving that this color description had some truth about me...always having a calm environment, being free of conflict and disagreement is the only way to live, and that no other color lives by the golden rule as much as I do (I'm always using the golden rule with little kids! Always treat others the way you want to be treated!).

I'm loving that American Idol is on tonight. I wasn't too impressed with many of the girls last night so hopefully the boys will be better tonight!

I'm loving that I haven't had any Cokes or Diet Cokes in the past week. And I've only had a couple of glasses of sweet tea :)

I'm loving that Emily Giffin's next book "Heart of the Matter" will be on the shelves May 11th! I love all her books and can't wait to read this one!

I'm loving that J and I are about to go cook our yummy supper :)

Hope y'all have had a wonderful Wednesday!

top 2 tuesday...tv shows!

Happy Tuesday friends!

Today, I'm playing along with Jimmy Choos & a Baby Too for Top 2 Tuesday.

Grab My Button

Today's topic is TV shows.

It's no secret that I have a lot of favorite TV shows so it's going to be hard to narrow them down!

So I'm going to cheat a little and give you the two shows that I've been watching the longest and two of my new faves :)

I've been watching these two since they premiered my freshman year in college and I rarely miss an episode...

Ohhh Desperate! Sometimes I wonder how they keep it going but it's an old faithful of mine :)

This show never fails to make me cry...but I love it! J refuses to watch it anymore because it makes him sad :(

Here are two of my new faves!

1. Glee

I absolutely LOVE this show! It's funny and they all sing...what could be better?! I can't wait until it comes back in April :)

american_one.jpg picture by jamiejudy

So we just started watching this show last weekend while we were in the mountains. There was a marathon of it on the History channel. These two guys go around (mainly around the midwest) and find people's houses who have a lot of old stuff/junk. They pick around until they find things that they know will make them money or just things that they like and want to keep. They either keep the items or sell them to collectors, antique shops, or restaurants. Check out this show by tuning in to the History channel :)

I won't even go on to list all my other favorite shows...we'd be here for a while!

Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday!

happy birthday sam!

Today is this girl's 22nd birthday!

I met Sam when I was a junior in college. She joined our sorority and we just started hanging out.

We then became roommates for the next two years :) She was also a bridesmaid in our wedding.

Here are just a few pics from over the years...

Love you little Sam!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday!

menu monday.

Happy Monday friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend :)

We had a nice, relaxing one watching lots of baseball.

Here's our menu for the week...

Monday
tacos and burritos

J's brother is coming over to eat and this is his favorite meal. He always requests it!

Tuesday
pizza
Caesar salad

We're going to the baseball game at 6:00 so we needed something quick to make when we get back.

Wednesday
chicken
creamed corn
green beans

It seems that we are always having chicken but J loves putting different seasonings on them so it always tastes different.

Thursday
chicken noodle soup
grilled cheese

Soup and grilled cheese is always yummy!

Friday
We're playing Friday by ear. We're going to yet another baseball game so we may grab something there or go out to eat.

Hope you all have a marvelous Monday!

sunday funday!

Happy Sunday friends!

Hope y'all have had a wonderful day!

We spent ours at our alma mater's baseball game. The weather was b-e-a-utiful (65 degrees, sunny, and breezy)! We lost the game but the weather made up for it :)

I'm playing along with MannLand5 and her Getting to Know You questions.

The questions..

1. How often do you wash/change your sheets?
I've been reading some of y'alls answers and I'm impressed...y'all change/wash them like twice a week?!

I'm lucky if I change them every couple of weeks. I mean, it's not like they get super dirty. We take showers every night before we go to bed. But I do like the feel of clean sheets :)

2. When is your birthday?
December 5. My aunt and I share this wonderful day together!

3. Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life?
No...none that I know of live around the Savannah area.

4. Brad Pitt or George Clooney?
Hmmm....if you'd asked me this like a year ago I probably would've said Brad. But now that he has that gross goatee thing going on I'd have to say George.

5. If you could change one thing about your body what would it be?
I sometimes wish I were about 2 or 3 inches shorter.

6. How often do you wash your hair?
Like twice a week. Y'all don't get grossed out! My hair is super thick so it doesn't really get dirty. I guess I should be grateful that I don't have to wash it every day.

7. Do you have pets?
My little Daisy.

8. How many social networks do you belong to..if you had to give up one, what would it be?

Facebook, Blogger, and I still have a Myspace that I haven't checked in yearrrs. I would definitely give up Myspace...I just need to go and delete my profile.

prayers needed!

Hello bloggy friends!

It's super late but I wanted to post this real quick.

A girl from my hometown who is a senior in high school, beauty queen, and a super sweet girl had an awful accident tonight.

She was on a golf cart and somehow a bungee cord hit her in her left eye. The cord hit her eye so hard that it busted it and rotated her eye 330 degrees. It severed a nerve so the eye had to be removed to prevent infection. She will now have to have some type of prosthetic eye.

This just breaks my heart to hear. It's just scary how something bad can happen so quickly.

So if you could just say a quick prayer for her and her family that'd be great!

Nighty night friends!

happy weekend!

Friday is finally here!

Our weekend will consist of going to baseball games every day...which is fine by me :)

We're going tonight at 7:00 to the season opener.

Tomorrow's game is at 5:00 and Sunday's is at 1:30.

There's just something about baseball that I love. Maybe it's because I actually understand the rules and the game. Or maybe it's that you can actually sit down and enjoy the game. It's just relaxing to me :)

After the game tonight we are going to Loco's to hear this guy, Curtis Smith, play.

I tried to find any of his song on YouTube but no luck.

On another note...our new vacuum came in today!

We ordered this Dyson from Target...

Now, normally we would not spend a lot of money on a vacuum.

I mean, this is the vacuum I've been using...

But here's how we got our new vacuum.

J is the manager of a cell phone company. When he or his employees meet a certain goal or quota or whatever, he gets these points which are like dollars. He usually saves his points and can then buy things like gift cards to certain stores or the Wii and Wii Fit he got last year.

Anyway, he had a lot saved up and decided to get the fantastic Dyson vacuum cleaner! I can't wait to use it this weekend :) Yes, I know, that sounded extra dorky but I love to vacuum!

Well, I'm about to go eat my late lunch of Special K Red Berries and watch some more 7th Heaven. (Que more dorkiness!)

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

abrevs.

Abbreviations that is!

Do any of you shorten words a lot?

I do it all the time!

Here are some of the words and phrases I shorten...

Facebook = Facey

sunglasses = sunnies

Subway = subbies

Heavenly Ham = Heavenly

TJ Maxx = TJ

I love you = ILU

football = footie

Project Runway = Project

Desperate Housewives = Desperate

Grey's Anatomy = Grey's

kiss = kissy

ridiculous = ridic

goodnight = nighty

Do any of y'all shorten words or am I the only weirdo that does it?

Hope everyone has had a great Thursday!

And just because I like to post a picture...here's my cute hubby right after we saw each other on our wedding day :)

And one more just because we are giving each other a "kissy" :)

what I'm loving wednesday!

Happy Wednesday friends!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day :)

I decided to copy A Gal and Her Dog and tell you a few things that I'm loving right now!

I'm loving that baseball starts this weekend in our college town. We love going to the games and the team is really good!

I'm loving the Heavenly Hash ice cream I bought yesterday.

I'd been craving ice cream for a while so I broke down and bought it! Heavenly Hash is kind of like Rocky Road. It's chocolate ice cream with almonds, chocolate chunks, and marshmallow swirled in! It's absolutely delish!

I'm loving that I've decided to give up Coke/Diet Coke for Lent. I'm also going to try to not drink as much sweet tea. I'm not Catholic (I'm Baptist) and have never given anything up for Lent but I decided I'd give it a try.

I'm loving that I'm over my strep throat! Amoxicillin has done wonders :)

I'm loving this cute little shrug from Old Navy.

I'm also loving these shorts from Old Navy...

on730660-02p01v01.jpg picture by jamiejudy

and these too!

on730663-04p01v01.jpg picture by jamiejudy
Old Navy always has the best fitting shorts. They come in different lengths and colors and aren't expensive.

I am loving watching American Idol. I have never really gotten into it before but for some reason I've been watching it this season. There are so many good singers!

And I'm always loving these two...

Daisy loves giving kisses!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Wednesday!

a wonderful snowy weekend!

Happy Tuesday friends!

This post will be kind of long but we just had such a great weekend!

After getting over my strep throat, I was able to enjoy our wonderful weekend.

We arrived at our mountain house Friday afternoon to the whole town covered in snow!

Just so y'all know, northeastern Georgia does get some snow but this past weekend, pretty much the whole state of Georgia was covered in snow (which never happens)! My hometown in southwest Georgia got snow and mine and J's town right near Savannah got snow. It was pretty crazy!

Here are some pictures from our snow day :)

our little house.

J at the back door.

The road in front of the house.

The little park across the street.

The hubs.

so pretty!

Not feeling so hot but we only stayed out for a little bit.

Trying to get a family pic but little Daisy, of course, would not look at the camera!

So she just turned her head!

Rabun Gap Nacoochee School. If you look closely, you can see some kids sledding down the huge hill!

Our cozy fire :)

Little Daisy enjoying the fire :)

Saturday was spent driving over to Greenville, SC to see Wicked.

Downtown Greenville is just so pretty!

Just some fun art on a building.

All I can say about Wicked is WOW!

The show was amazing! Everything from the music, the singing, the costumes, the set, and the actors was wonderful! The show lasted almost 3 hours but it only felt as if we were there for an hour.

Our seats were on the 2nd row. At first, I thought that was a little close and that we would be too close to see everything that was going on. But I was SO wrong! Being that close let us see the all actor's facial expressions and just how beautiful all the costumes were.

A map of Oz.

Waiting on the show to start :)

I would recommend Wicked to anybody! It's such a great show for all ages!

When we got back to the house, we let little Daisy out, then left again to go to dinner. We went to this delicious pasta place called Zeppelin's. We got this yummy crab dip for an appetizer. For dinner, I got the chicken pesto pasta and J got the rasta pasta. It was all so good!

We spent the rest of the night by the fire watching the Olympics.

We slept in on Sunday and then got some lunch at this little country cooking restaurant. We then went to an indoor flea market and browsed around for a little bit. We went back to the house, opened our Valentine's cards from one another (our gifts to each other was going to see Wicked :) ), and then watched some more of the Olympics. We ate supper at home and worked on putting together a 1000 piece puzzle of the state of historic Georgia.

Historic Georgia Post card

I really wanted to finish it but we got the outside border and all of the little squares done. The middle will just have to wait until next time!

Even though our Valentine's Day wasn't extravagant, we had a lovely day spending it with each other :)

We left Monday afternoon and came home to see this huge branch that had fallen in the front yard.

I guess these trees aren't used to having snow on them!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is having a terrific Tuesday!
