show us your life...proposal story!

Happy Friday y'all!

Yay for the weekend :) We're going home-home for the weekend but we're driving separately :( J's leaving Sunday because he has to go back to work but I'm staying until Tuesday because I have to help out my aunt with some things!

Over at Kelly's Korner, we're telling about how we got engaged.

If I say so myself, J had the best proposal :)

So here it is...

My mama, aunt, Mimi, Jonathan, little Daisy, and I had all gone up to our mountain house in north Georgia for a few days before Christmas. On Saturday (December 22, 2007) we decided to drive up to Highlands, NC to eat lunch and do some shopping. Little did I know, J had bigger plans!

When we got there, our first stop was this Christmas shop that I love to go to every time we are in town because they have the best ornaments. When we got outside the store, my mama started reminiscing about when I was about 7 years old she and daddy had taken a picture of me on the the bench that was still outside of the store.

As she was telling the story, J said he was going to go ahead and go inside since it was so cold. We were still helping my Mimi get out of the car so I didn't think anything of it.

When he came back out he had a bag in his hands and told me he had bought me something. I wondered how he had picked out an ornament so fast but I took the box from him and stated to open it.

Inside the box was this ornament...

"Jamie, will you marry me?"
12-22-07

It turns out that earlier that morning, J had called the Christmas shop and asked them to make the ornament :)

{Finally getting down on one knee...but not before giving little Daisy a kiss :)}

{Ahhhh! I was so excited!}

{Admiring my beautiful ring!}

{It's always so hard to get a good ring picture...especially with the camera I used to have. So this was the best shot we got that day!}

When J asked me to marry him, I immediately stated the whole crying/laughing thing and I of course said yes! All the while, the owners or the store and a few other people passing by were watching, my aunt was taking pictures, and my mama, grandma, and little Daisy were right there beside me.

It was perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything better!

But things did get better...we were able to drive back up to the mountains and have our engagement pictures taken where we got engaged :) We took a lot around town but some of my favorites were right where he proposed.

But things got even more exciting when we arrived at our wedding reception to find the same proposal bench in the yard!

My mama had written the lady who owns the Christmas shop and asked her about the bench and the lady graciously let her have it! My daddy drove up there about a month before the wedding to pick it up.

As you can tell, we were very surprised...

The bench now sits in our foyer right when you walk in the front door.

Now we can always remember our special engagement with our bench and ornament!

{The first ornament we hung on the tree for our very first married Christmas!}

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
